Cake, Cake, Gimme Cake

November 17, 2011

You may be wondering what the (s) is all about in the header below? You got it – I succumbed and have joined the iPhone generation. And I’m not looking back baby! What was I thinking before? I’ve no idea. I think I was slightly mentally-impaired. Anyway, this blog is likely to get super-chock-a-block with ‘cool’ iPhone photos, (as above). Want some of that cake? Head to Monarch Cakes on Acland St and ask for a slice of the famous Kugelhopf. Yum.

Inspiration 4.0 (s)

November 17, 2011

Well, it has certainly been a while my friends. I’m not sure if you ever go through the same vortex I feel like I have just been through (and thankfully have emerged out the other side, invigorated and excited), but I feel like I was recently visiting and dwelling in an inspiration-free-zone. Hence the lack of blog posts since August. It’s been a while.

The past few months have been anything but my usual carefree-smile-at-strangers-in-the-street-the-world-is-my-oyster-blah-blah-blah. I’ve moved house, continued on a path I’m not sure I want to be on work-wise, and basically lacked a bit of mojo.

But never fear! The ever-smiling-crazy-happy-gal I am is back! I’ve begun a few things that I feel have really helped me get back into the groove, the foremost one being daily meditation. I kid you not – this is something that is not to be discredited. And this morning in my meditation I was just absolutely drowned in inspiration.

Anybody remember Ruth and Pony? Oh yes, we’re coming back. Big plans are underway.

The potential for a new living environment is open and happy and golden.

I may just get to live off the land yet!

And fingers crossed I shall be blogging more. Loads and loads of pretty new pictures, thoughts and ideas are coming this way. Woohoo!

But for now, enjoy the dashing puppy – running happily and carefree across the field. Towards what? The potential of the future is absolutely infinite. You create your own reality – if you’re not enjoying yours right at this minute, what can you do to change it?

The Beatles definitely had it right…

Living Inside A Goldfish Bowl

August 12, 2011

Sometimes living in an apartment can feel a bit claustrophobic. Inspiration for taking great pictures can be hard to come by. But when it’s so cold outside, I just can’t quite bring myself to go out there in search of a good photo! So here are a few for you… Say hello to Brian The Goldfish.

Oh Hai Brian. Aren’t You Pretty.

You can check out more photos of Brian (if you really like goldfish…?) at my tumblr account here.

Gossip Girl = Life-Envy

August 11, 2011

Gossip Girl is definitely one of my favourite shows (the other being Mad Men. Can you see I choose my fave tv show by the incredible fashion and styling?) Anyway. Watching Gossip Girl is the biggest visual feast. The clothes, the makeup, the hair, oh the hair. It definitely creates massive life-envy. Serena and her amazingly thick, luscious hair. Blair and her ladylike-with-a-fun-twist fashion. Everything is perfect. Really makes me want to up the ante a bit when I roll out of bed in the morning and slap on some blush and mascara! We all need a bit of fash-spiration sometimes, and I find Gossip Girl to be the perfect remedy. Perhaps I should watch it more often?

Amazing. There certainly are no words for these two beauties. How much do they make me  you want to be them want to live inside their wardrobes slash have their wardrobes.  And hello – they not only have these amazing wardrobes and amazing hair (cough, Serena) – they also get to pash Chuck Bass and Nate. Y-U-M.

Okay, here’s another hawt pic for you. But please, let me warn you before you scroll down. It will bring on extreme (and when I say extreme I mean extreeeeeeeme) girl-crush-slash-face-hair-photographicness-envy.

Again, no words. Except want-to-be.

Fishtail Beauty

August 7, 2011

I love a good fishtail braid. How amazingly gorgeous are these ones with added flowers and bright lips? Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

My original inspiration for wearing the fishtail braid was thanks to Blake Lively aka Serena Van Der Woodsen on my fave show, Gossip Girl. Serena wore her fishtail braid scraped tightly back, a nice contrast to the slightly messy braid itself (a la Blake in the pic below). After seeing the above pictures though I’m inspired to wear my braid a bit more footloose and fancy free, like the hippy-flowerchild I am on the inside.

Weekend

August 7, 2011

This weekend consisted of music, markets and red velvet cupcakes. (It’s a rare occurrence when a weekend doesn’t consist of at least 2 out of those 3 things. In fact I’d go so far as saying that my life has a soundtrack, music is so prominent. But this weekend the BF has been very busy with his music. If you want to check some out head on over to his website here. Perhaps you want guitar lessons too? Have a listen.)

We’ve put a couch on our deck. It’s rather nice. Especially when it’s warm and sunny.

Mmmm, red velvet cupcake

No more cupcake! Nom nom nom

If you’d like to see a few more pics from this post, please head on over to my tumblr account. Mr cupcake got a bit creative.

Feathers + Fluff

August 6, 2011

Yesterday I dove back into my wardrobe, determined once again to find items that don’t get enough love. And obviously, once again, I found a couple of said items! (My wardrobe is not exactly what you’d call ‘small’. Yesterday the BF complained that he would like ‘at least one’ coat hanger in the wardrobe. I told him to stop being silly. That’s what his shelf is for.)

Anyway – I found a couple of interesting items you may like to see, aptly I have named them ‘feathers and fluff’. Fluff was a great bargain from Glassons at Dressmart in Onehunga (I think it was $5?) and Feathers is an old waistcoat, which I literally sewed feathers on to. I’d been dreaming of a feathery waistcoat for years and then spotted a piece of feathery-goodness at South Melbourne Market that was perfect for me to get crafty with.

Coffee and Cigarettes

August 4, 2011

Just another casual Thursday. Coffee, (not really any cigarettes), date scones with jam and butter (yummmm), sunshine, great company and a successful op-shopping mission. Yay!

Cowderoy Dairy and their stupidly cute miniature jars of jam.

It’s not even cold. For some reason it’s like 20 degrees at the start of August. In Melbourne. #wierd-but-loving-it

$10 dress/top from the op-shop. Love!

$8 jacket. I wasn’t sure about this one. The BF said no-way. Then I tried it on. L.O.V.E x

Oversized, once-you-pop-you-can’t-stop, navy man’s jumper.

The long-coveted ‘nana scarf’. L.O.V.E. And it actually smells like a nana’s perfume. So authentic.

Whimsical afternoons spent strolling the streets of Venice. Fashion speaks louder than words.
